Henri Wellens
This Belgian watercolorist made many works for postcards as
well. though there are some lesser elements in this work the
joyful interpretation was what strikes us. It simply is the picture
as a whole. The buildings are done in a sober way and
that dress the attention to the water and at the same time giving
this work a calm mood. Work on paper.
Most people think art between the two world wars is
recognizable by its dark colors. Thatmostly has more to to
with the smokey rooms in which the paintings were
hanging. Made in 1937 and recognizable: H. Wellens.
