Jean Herblet / Gaspard van den Hoeck / Chista Hook

A genuine watercolor by this French artist who also made
a lot of lithographs and handcoloured etchings. So one has
to be very careful to make a conclusion that a work is a
real watercolor. In this case: Not any doubt. In fact his real
name was Arthur Boris O'Klein as he was from Russian
origin. The name "Jean Herblet"  worked better in the
french artistic field as he moved to Paris. Work on paper.
Dimensions: 27 / 34 cm.

Having seen more works from this artist i'm having
some trouble in how he depicts the ears sometimes.
Im this case much better but a bit too underlined at
the bottom. On the other hand the eye is that great!

Most watercolours can be distinguished as the artist
often used a kind of grey "cloud" as a background.

By clicking on the pictures you are able to
examine carefully how he built up his works.

Gaspard van den Hoeck

No, in fact not a watercolor but another technique that
deserves more attention. In fact you can reach a goal
with whatever device you are using. May it be a watercolor
technique but why not crayon colors to reach this!

Gaspar vandenHoeck was a gifted crayon user and in fact
an autodidact what makes everything even more special.
Work on paper. Dimensions: 32 / 45 cm.

Christa Hook

As my wife is always fond of cats, wether it be painted
or in real life, I decided to buy this one from the English
based illustrator Christa Hook. Her father followed the
same track regarding drawing and painting, Christa her-
self also is occupied with ilustrations. You can visit her
website by just googlin' on her name.

Though quite a long time ago the signature remained
virtually the same. Crayon on paper. Dimensions: 22/ 30 cm.
