Pierre Eugene Cambier / Jean Cambresier

Pierre Eugene Cambier ( 1865 - 1942 )

Pierre Eugene Cambier did a lot of Paris street scenes
and the strange thing is that his signature sometimes is
explained as "P.G. Cambier" or sometimes as simply
Pierre Cambier. In fact most likely it is all about the
same artist. This watercolor has been done in a nice
fluid style. Some people will call it touristic stuff but
to our opinion that doesn't do justice to his skills.
Watercolor on paper: Dimensions: 20 / 30 cm.

Depicted by Pierre Eugene Cambier is Montmartre of
course as this picture here above attests. A bit later on!

And of course his signature that has a kind of strange
second prefix "E" but it unmistakably is there.

And another watercolor by this artist: "Notre Dame de Paris".
Work on paper. Dimensions: 21 / 30 cm.

Presented here is a good example of his signature:
The second prefix unmistakable is a "E". Apparently
he is using the same size of paper thorough his
watercolor works. At auction sites these dimensions
are mentioned as well!

Jean Cambresier

Marg. Cambresy

This watercolour must have been made near Liege
(Belgium) A small village called Wandre is
situated there near the river "La Meuse"
Work on paper. Dimensions 30 / 45 cm.
