This work has been done in crayon so not a watercolor,
although there are some traces of paint that can be detected
One way or another it has a nice atmosphere and it was
probably made in the Netherlands and Max Liebermann did
had several stays in the Netherlands. Reading the things
written on the back it should be the Tea Garden in Leiden.
Work on paper. Dimensions 50 / 29 cm.
This way of signing his work we haven't bee able to find so
probably a forgery but why make a falsification and then
writing the name with just one prefix "n"? We recently
discovered another work, hanging in the Singer Museum
Laren that also has been signed with only one "n" so
our hope has raised a bit!
Maybe the back of the paper the artist worked on could
add anything to the research regarding the originality of
this work. Mrs. Margreet Nouwen seems to be the expert
in the field of sketches, watercolors and crayons. She has
close contact with the Max Liebermann Gesellschaft
in Berlin.
Written on the back is the place this crayon depicts:
"Theetuin te Leiden langs de Vliet."
Nadine van Lierde
This work dates out of her more interesting periods.
It has been made in the time she was awarded with several prizes.
A bit of a strange work but that can be seen more often by
some belgium artists. These investigations in the corners
of what is appopriate are fascinating me.
Mixed techniques. Work on paper. Dimensions 35 / 50 cm.
