Willy Rondas / Rome City view / Henry Rul ( 1862 - 1942 )

Probably a study in watercolour for one of his
later surrealistic works "The mystical Horse Rider.
Just take a look at www.belgiumantiques.com
Active painter in France, England and Belgium.
Born in 1907 in Brussels, an English mother and
died in 1975 in Brussels.

Painter, architect. Urban landscapes. Surrealism.
Willi Rondas first studied singing, but was later an
architect in Paris. He practiced architecture in the
Belgian Congo (currently in the Democratic Republic
of Congo) before turning to painting in Paris in 1931.

In this detail one can observe his ideas already
have been worked out in this watercolour.

And another finely executed detail.

Probably executed as an oil painting.

Rome (City view)

This view is taken from the river "The Tiber" towards
Vatican city (on the left) The caste Sant'Angelo as well
as the "Angels" bridge are present here.

With little means used the skyline has been done and
the beautful sunset completes this remarkable watercolor.

A quite faithful reproduction of this remarkable building.

And to get the depth in the picture the light
greyish skyline really adds to that detail.

Henry Rul

This in fact is a crayon, no watercolor but also drawings
are presented here so, why not. A Belgium artist that later
worked in the style of Henri Luijten. His playing with
light effects is remarkable in this work as he is playing
with lines as well as can be studied here beyond.

A bit difficult to determine but once you know his
signature this definitely is one of his works. In a true
impressionistic manner, the way the bigger names
like Emile Claus and Henri Luijten are also known
for. Work on paper. Dimensions: 33 / 44 cm.
