A rather small drawing, most likely made on
a study paper block. As Gleizes is known for his
cubist approach we think it to be from the beginning
of his career when some interesting impressionistic
works were produced as well. Around 1900?
Then the signature: For those who know his signatures some
elements will not be there as early signed works by his hand
do have a scroll at the beginning and still a "normal" prefix
"z" . The strange "s" at the end can be found on more pencil
signed works. Sometimes he signed with Albert but often
with no more than " Alb"
I will come up with a comparable signature but again:
The signature on our drawing might as well be falsified...
