Probably a depiction of a small French town, Maria Segers
frequently worked in watercolor but besides that she was
a designers which element becomes obvious in this work.
Big surfaces of colors, almost abstract but filled in with
elements given by nature. That was her goal.
Though Maria Segers is prominently present in the
Paul Piron, a Belgium dictionnary, the book of signatures
doesn't show hers. A it hard to read but when you know
what has to be there. Work on paper. Dimensions: 23 / 32 cm.
Henri Seghers
This watercolor has been done by Henri Seghers Junior.
His father also was a painter. Henri Seghers junior was
active during the period 1870 - 1914 and his marine
watercolors are worth an observation. We tend to believe
that this watercolor lost a bit of his colors but still the
atmosphere is there. Carefully watching this scenery makes
it possible to determine two cows and the way that has
been done proves Seghers was influenced by the
impressionists. Work on paper. Dimensions: 25 / 35 cm.
Presented here is his very recognizable signature.
