Piet Schipperus ( 1840 - 1929 )

Piet Schipperus (Dutch) only made oil paintings later in
his life. His watercolours are well known and mostly
in a still romantic style though he is believed to be a fore-
runner of the "The Hague School". In this watercolour all
the elements of the Romantic Era are there: The treatment
of the sky but certainly the sunlight that hits the trees on the
right. The hills in the background are betraying this to be
made in Limburg, a southern part of The Netherlands.
Work on paper. Dimensions: 27,5 / 38 cm.

Though not very well readable I will publish it allready
as this signature is spot on and reads: P A Schipperus
as he allways did. Regarding its' age this watercolour
is in very good condition, not sticked and not any
damages of any kind...
