Lucien Delarue / Bruno Delvigne

A nice watercolour by the celebrated artist Lucien Delarue.

Though most of his works are signed in paint this one has been

done with pencil which explains the other D.

The follow up of his signature indeed has resemblance.

Though Lucien Delarue was most widely known for his

Paris views he certainly did some other subjects as well.

The Paris views are prints most of the time that frequently

keep popping up at brocante markets. This still life

certainly has a kind of freshness and although it

was impossible to investigate it before buying it I

decided that the strong colours proved it to be a genuine

watercolour and it was indeed. The background treatment

has a lot of "movement" in it and that's the main reason

this still life isn't as static as most still lifes are.

Here is the most widely used signature and what

is remarkable with all his signed works the form of

the r prefix is a bit indented so it allways appears

a bit too narrow.

More than often several works by the same artists are

offered. That counts as well for Bruno Delvigne but

this one immediately drew our attention maybe due

to the abstract elements that are added here.

A lot of quality work was offered at this auction

all by the same person. Probably he or she died

and all the stuff came on this household auction.

Most works were certified as was the case here.
