This watercolour is dated 1888 but the approach has a
certain kind of freshness it could have been produced
yesterday. Timeless art has proved the most significant
part in history and partly for that reason I've presented
this watercolor here. Deneux also made oil paintings
but gradually moved towards a for that time more
commercial approach which I think to be a pity.
Work on paper. Dimensions: 19 / 26 cm.
Deneux reduced the forms here to one single touch.
From this point on he could even have evolved into
a certain kind of cubism.
The trees in the background are another example of
his skills: simply credible.
Lisieux has been depicted here and the way he places his
signature changed over the years. Watercolours often simply
were monogrammed and his oil paintings signed in block
letters. There is still much appreciation for his work.
Guy Depiere
The works of Guy Depiere are hardly to trace.
There is a belgium artist Guy Depiere who lived in
Brussels and had a studio for strips and cartoons.
He was internationally appraised and by looking
at these watercolours the talent is certainly there.
We recently found posters he made for the Holland
America Line. The signatures absolutely are similar.

These posters do fetch a lot of money though in fact
it is still printwork. We believe this to be his non
commercial work. We think this is a vue on one of
the sidewings of the Louvre. Watercolour.
Dimensions 50 - 70 cm.
This gouache by the same artist is also made in Paris.
Actually it is the Tuilerie (Garden of the Louvre)
based on the fact that this has been added in pencil
under the signature lower right: Tuilery.
Watercolour. Dimensions 50 - 70 cm.
