Helen Whitfield made this view on one of the canals in Bruges
(Belgium) in 1923. So quite a bit an older watercolor. Being an
oil paintress as well she shows here here skills with the first
technique mentioned. Work on paper. Dimensions: 22 / 30 cm.
Though a bit goody-goody, the light and the
water expression is really convincingly.
Marcel Wibault (1904 - 1998)
This French painter was born in Besancon of which this
mixed technique work attests. It is the Ponte Battant and
the church is La Madeleine. He worked in pencil, water-
colour and gouache. He moved near the alpes later were
he made a lot of snowy mountain works. This is a work
on paper. Dimensions: 33 / 46 cm. Dated 1929.
And some details. It will not be surpisingly that this artist
made a lot of illustrations as he was highly skilled.
And another detail from this work.
Depicted here is the Porte Noire and some columns
from the Roman Theatre can be seen at the left.
This has been described on the back and dated 1929.
A detail of the Porte Noire itself.
And the signature on tis one. The one placed on the Pont
Battant is hardly readable but once you know what has
to be there, it is more easy. Work on paper. 33 / 46 cm
Miguel Ybanez ( 1946 -
A mixed media technique by this celebrated artist from
Spain. Though not that old, Ybanez allready gained a
surprisingly big reputation. As he more than often did,
this work was produced on a kind of cardboard possibly
layed with paper. Dimensions: 16 / 25 cm.
Are they two vases or just one head. We think
the latter.
Monogrammed as he did more often and dated, most
likely 1989.
