Silpery / Jan Sluijters Jr. / Alain Raya Sorkine

Some investigations have to be done still regarding this
watercolour but it has some nice elements in it so the creator
must be known to someone as is the spot where it has
been done. Work on paper. Dimensions: 22 / 33 cm.

Presented here is the signature: Is it just a family name
or should we read it as a surname and familyname?

Jan Sluijters Jr.

A rather small but interesting work by the son of  a great
artist in the Netherlands with the same name. It reflects
a way of happiness to our believe. Work on paper.
Dimensions 23 / 32 cm.

For those who want to investigate his monogramme:
The prefis "S"  from "Sluijters and "JR" from junior.

Alain Raya Sorkine

Alain Raya Sorkine was a french born artist that
signed his works with his mothers' name. The subject
he choses often are musicians and mostly are jewish.
The colours however are mostly much brighter and
more joyful. Wether if this is an original work we
still have to investigate but there are some "darker'
works around 1969. Above the signature some
Israelic prefixes can be seen. We still have to investigate
what the exact meaning is. Work on paper.
Dimensions 30 / 40 cm.

We had contact with Mr. Raya Sorkine and he stated
this to be an original watercolour from his hand. He made this
while living in a caravan for some time and travelled around
Europe. He states it to be from before 1960 and that
he later signed the earlier works (around 1970)
The prefixes above the signature are hebrew and
say: Le Berger, The Shepherd. The works of Alain
Raya  Sorkine have often been compared to those of
the famous Marc Chagall and indeed , that was my
first impression as well.
