Eva van Dam / Poppe Damave ( 1921 - 1988 ) / Gerard Delancre

Eva van Dam

Most of the time watercolours tend to be not that big
but this one is our biggest and certainly one of the more
beloved ones! Eva van Dam is situated in Amsterdam
at the moment and it is really advisable to visit
her website as there are a lot of oilpaintings as well
to admire. Work on paper. Dimensions: 70 / 100 cm.

It is really worth an examination to study this
detail of this watercolour though the wideness in the
background has its role as well.

We recently removed this watercolor out of
its' frame as that was in a bad condition and we
were able to take pictures without glass.

And another detail. Eva van Dam was still living
in  Arnhem when this watercolor was produced.
That was in the year 1977 of which the signature
attests. It has been placed in the lower left corner.

By clicking on this picture you are able to enlarge it.
At the moment she has her workplace in Amsterdam.

Poppe Damave

Poppe Damave is a Dutch artist who used different techniques
and watercolor among others. He was a member of an Art group
the called  "Haarlemse Vijftigers". He often worked in an
impressionistic style. This work has been called "The Salesman".
Work on paper. Dimensions 28 / 42 cm.

He did an expositions in the Frans Hals museum in 1947.
But the Rijksmuseum, The Singer museum also have works
of Damave in their collection. The name "Poppe" in
fact is an unusual one even in the Netherlands so when
reading the first name one can be sure the second halve
of his name will be "Damave".

Gerard Delancre

His works are not always of equal quality but this work had
a strange kind of attraction to us, probably the choice of the
colours used. Work on paper. Dimensions: 38 / 52 cm.

For comparisons: His signature.
