Simon Kamminga / Nenad Karpov / Jan Keustermans / Mori Kinsen

Simon Kamminga

A rather big watercolor from the hand of Simon Kamminga
who lives in the northern part of the Netherlands. He lived
from 1895 - 1984 and gained a certain reputation in that part
of the Netherlands. There even is a Simon Kamminga mu-
seum. This watercolor gives a soulful interpretation of
a day in which the warmer temperatures are taking over
the winter and sno is melting. The dampening makes it
even more attractive to our opinion!

The signature of mr. Kamminga is on the left which means to
one of his grandchildren that it was made at the beginning of
his career. It is obvious that his talent was already there. It
has been stated to be an older work from this artist of which
the encadrement is proof. Most likely before the second
worldwar. In the beginning of his career he signed his
works on the left and began with a monogramme.

Some details in which the passing winter reflects his
last breathtakes in the melted icewater on the road.

Colors certainly differ from those looked at in a summer day!

Nenad Karpov

Jan Keustermans (1917 -

A fairly big watercolour from the hand of the Belgium
artist Jan Keustermans. This watercolour  doesn't has
its' particularly own style but the way it has been built
up, remains clearly visible. The first very faint
layers applied with much water are on the outside.
The main subject in this watercolour are the apples
of course which betrays the skills of Keustermans.
Work on paper. Dimensions: 53 / 74 cm.

Keustermans did a lot of etching work as well and
signed these works in pencil. Signing a work in
watercolour is another thing to do. Readable
anyway which is a plus!

Kichigoro Mori Kinsen

This Japanese born artist worked a lot in Indonesia
and was one of the favourite artists of Soekarno.
He worked in the Barbizon style what is remarkable.
You can observe these influences better in
his oil paintings. Work on paper. Dimensions:
30 / 45 cm. (watercolour)
He signed his work simply with Mori Kinsen and
sometimes added a red stamp that states it to come
from his workshop. (Below right)

This smaller watercolour from his hand shows his
qualities as well. The dampening environment due
to excessive moisture in the air you can allmost feel.
Work on paper. Dimensions: 22 / 30 cm.
