Sophie D' Ouseley / Maurice van den Dries

An English born artist Sophie D' Ouseley lived around 1900.
This city view of Bruges was made in 1905. Watercolouring is a
technique that is in high regard in Great Britain. This one tends to
be one of her better ones. Could have been made after J R Hutchinson.
but at least seen from the same point of view. A lot can be found
on internet. Work on paper. Dimensions: 30 / 40 cm

Maurice van den Dries

This watercolour in combination with ink has a beautiful
color setting. Remarkable maybe but the fact that this artist
made a lot of monochrome etchings explains a lot. Though
quite "uniform" in colors this watercolour has a nice
"palette". Work on paper. Dimensions: 20 / 27 cm.

At first glance we thought the prefix "M" to be a "J".
But by comparing this signature with the ones on his
etchings it became clear that we're dealing with Maurice
van de Dries. He further mentioned the month "march"
and the year of production: 1981.
