Guy Ribes / Tuur de Rijbel / Maurice Romberg

In fact not a remarkable work but from a remarkable painter.
Guy Ribes worked in the style of Renoir and Monet at first.
A few dealers discovered possibilities in the art market
for his skills: "Make some forgeries!" And so he did.
The dealers made a lot of money. Mr. Ribes himself little
but was prisoned for 4 years. Once the penalty was
over, a producer making a movie about the life of
Renoir, decided to use Guy Ribes hands for the scenes
when Renoir is actually working on a painting.
And so they did. Look for the full story on internet.
Work on paper. Dimensions: 40 / 50 cm.

Tuur de Rijbel

To our believe a forceful work that got some "dreamy"
elements in it, without being copied from others.

In fact a small work abut you are able to enlarge on
your screen by clicking on it. Simply a beautiful style.
Work on paper: Dimensions:16 / 19 cm.

His signature luckily is very well readable and
some extra information arounds this artist has
been sticked on the back of this work.

Maurice Romberg

Though definitely not a watercolor I've included this one
in my Blog. Maurice Romberg made several very valuable
watercolors during his lifetime. Mostly the sceneries were
derived from Nort Africain environments. The military
works however are also there. Litho's and posters as besides
an artist, Romberg was a famous illustrator in his time. A
warning however should be placed here: For most people
not fully aware about the different techniques used in art
this one could be seen as a genuine watercolor. However
it is in fact not. A color lithography, often executed by
specialized firms and that makes these conclusions so
difficult. Though more than 100 years old, the quality is
astonishing! Beware as there are auction houses as well
presenting these sceneries as watercolors!
Work on paper. Dimensions: 27,5 / 42 cm.

The signature of Romberg isn't hard to read though
you could read Rombery. There is also a Monogramme
in existence with the same prefix "R".

And another one is presented here with the same
dimensions and in an even better condition.
